Custom Papers turn a disposable wrapper into the last piece of branding a customer touches. Every basket liner, deli sheet, and wrapped sandwich carries your logo directly into the moment someone eats, a placement no ad buys. We print food-safe papers in greaseproof, parchment, glassine, kraft, and wax grades, sized to your portions and certified for direct food contact. Whether you run a single deli counter or supply a national chain, we, as a packaging wholesaler, handle sheet sizing, coating selection, and printing in one production run. Which Paper Do You Actually Need?
Most buyers arrive knowing they need printed paper but not which grade. Here’s the short version:
| If you’re serving… | Choose | Because |
|---|---|---|
| Fried food, burgers, loaded fries | Greaseproof Paper | Silicone treatment blocks oil migration on both faces |
| Baked goods straight from the oven | Parchment Paper | Rated to 450°F, won’t scorch or stick |
| Pastries, chocolates, delicate items | Glassine Paper | Supercalendered for a smooth, non-stick, semi-translucent surface |
| Deli meats, cheeses, sandwiches | Deli Paper | Lightweight, foldable, prints cleanly at low grammage |
| Retail wrapping, e-commerce fill | Kraft Paper | High tear strength and a natural, unbleached look |
| Cold cuts, freezer storage | Freezer Paper | Moisture barrier that prevents freezer burn |
| Basket service and tray lining | Food Basket Liners | Die-cut to tray size, contains grease at the source |
If you’re still unsure, send us your menu and portion sizes. We’ll recommend a grade rather than upselling the heaviest option.
Paper Grades types
1. Greaseproof Paper
Greaseproof stock resists oil through a silicone treatment applied to one or both surfaces, which is what keeps fried food from turning the wrapper transparent and soggy. It’s the default choice for anything leaving a fryer. Uncoated, compostable alternatives are available where a plastic-free specification matters to your brand.
2. Parchment Paper
Parchment is produced by treating base paper in an acid bath, which densifies the fibers and creates natural heat and grease resistance. That’s what allows a rating up to roughly 450°F and makes it oven-safe as well as freezer-safe. Bakeries typically run it as both a baking surface and a wrapper, which consolidates two SKUs into one printed item.
3. Glassine Paper
Glassine gets its glossy, semi-translucent surface from supercalendering — running the sheet through heated, high-pressure rollers until the fibers lie flat. That density is what produces its grease, air, and moisture resistance without any coating. It’s the right pick when you want the product partially visible through the wrap.
4. Kraft Paper
Kraft is made through a sulfate pulping process that preserves fiber length, which is exactly why it tears less easily than bleached alternatives. The unbleached brown finish reads as natural and artisanal, and it prints well with bold, simple artwork. It performs equally well as retail wrap, void fill, and bag stock.
5. Wax Papers: Dry vs. Wet
These are two genuinely different products, and the distinction matters:
- Dry wax paper has wax impregnated into the fiber, leaving no residue on the surface. Use it for hot applications, pizza box liners, hot sandwich wraps, where surface wax would melt.
- Wet wax paper carries wax on the surface for a high-gloss, high-moisture barrier. Use it where the food needs to stay moist, or for freezer wrapping.
Note that wet wax paper is not the same thing as butcher paper, despite the two being frequently confused. Butcher paper is typically an uncoated or lightly treated kraft, chosen specifically because it breathes.
Printing, Coatings, and Finishing
We print using offset, flexographic, digital, screen, and gravure processes, selected based on your run length rather than defaulting to one method. Short runs favor digital; high-volume wholesale runs favor flexo.
Ink: Water-based and soy-based, food-safe, non-toxic. Available in 1-color, 2-color, and full 4-color CMYK, with Pantone matching for brand-critical colors.
Coatings available:
- Aqueous: water-based clear varnish in gloss, matte, satin, or soft-touch. Reduces fingerprint visibility.
- UV: cured under ultraviolet light for a hardened surface. Available as spot UV for selective emphasis.
- Wax: paraffin or beeswax layer for moisture resistance on oily foods.
- PLA, PE, PVOH, and silicone: specified based on your temperature and barrier requirements.
Sizes and Formats
| Portion type | Common sheet sizes |
|---|---|
| Small items | 4″ × 4″, 6″ × 5″, 8″ × 5″, 8.5″ × 11″ |
| Medium items | 10″ × 10″, 12″ × 9″, 13″ × 13″, 15″ × 10.75″ |
| Large items | 18″ × 13″, 20″ × 12″, 20″ × 18″, 20″ × 28″ |
Rolls are available in custom widths with perforated tear lines for counter dispensing. Custom die-cut shapes are produced to your specification when a standard rectangle doesn’t fit your tray or basket.
Where Custom Papers Fit Alongside Your Packaging
Printed paper works hardest when it matches the rest of your setup. Deli and sandwich counters typically pair deli sheets with Custom Sandwich Boxes, while bakeries run parchment alongside Custom Bakery Boxes and Custom Croissant Boxes so the interior wrap and outer box share one design.
Pizzerias use dry wax liners inside Custom Pizza Boxes to control base grease. Dessert counters wrap items in glassine before they go into Custom Dessert Boxes or Custom Cheesecake Boxes, and fried-food operators line Custom Food Boats with greaseproof sheets. For retail and e-commerce, kraft paper works as both wrap and void fill inside Custom Mailer Boxes.
Certifications and Compliance
Our papers are FDA-compliant for direct food contact and are FSC-certified where responsible sourcing is part of your specification. Compostable and recyclable grades are stocked for brands operating under municipal packaging regulations or their own sustainability commitments. We supply documentation on request, not just a claim on a product page.

FAQs-Frequently Asked Questions
1. What’s the difference between greaseproof and parchment paper?
Greaseproof resists oil through a silicone treatment and is designed for wrapping fried or oily food at room or serving temperature. Parchment is acid-treated during manufacture, giving it genuine heat resistance up to around 450°F, so it can go directly into an oven. If your paper only wraps food, greaseproof is usually more cost-effective. If it also bakes, choose parchment.
2. Can printed paper touch food directly?
Yes, provided the ink and substrate are rated for it. Every paper we supply is FDA-compliant for direct food contact, printed with water-based or soy-based food-safe inks. We can provide compliance documentation for your records or health inspection files.
3. What’s the minimum order quantity?
There’s no minimum on standard grades and sizes. Custom die-cut shapes or specialty coatings may carry a minimum to keep the tooling cost viable per unit. We’ll tell you that number upfront rather than after you’ve committed.
4. Do you send physical samples before a full order?
Yes. We provide free physical samples so you can check grease resistance, print quality, and hand-feel against your actual food before committing to a production run. For anything touching hot or oily items, we recommend testing with your real menu rather than approving from a digital proof.
5. Which paper works for frozen products?
Freezer paper is the correct grade; it carries a moisture barrier specifically designed to prevent freezer burn during extended storage. Wax paper also performs well for shorter freezer periods where you want the surface gloss.
6. How long does production take?
Standard runs ship in 6–8 business days after design approval. Rush options are available if you’re working against an opening date or a seasonal deadline. Flag the date when you request your quote, and we’ll confirm feasibility before you order.
